Ladies' Day is Here

The time has come, the walrus said, to speak of many things,

Of Ladies day and Steampackets, of forwards, goals and wings

Of cuts and scrapes and bandages

And whether iodine stings.

The ladies day reunion is upon us. This Friday will see the first official ladies day since it was declared defunct back in March, and the Steampackets, as always, have thrown their full support behind it.

“Although it was officially finished in March, in truth there have only been a handful of ladies out on the field this year, even before then,” said President Adrian Dillon. “This week will be a huge occasion. Bigger than Benji.”

There have been rumours of all sorts of festivities being planned for the day, and although some, like the fireworks and Monster Truck display, have almost certainly been ruled out, it has been confirmed that an informal BBQ has been suggested.

Of course, being a Steampackets rumour, it is often difficult to distinguish between truth and conjecture, so there may or may not be sausages, veggie burgers, hamburgers, lobster, duck, croissants, bread, mayonnaise, sauce, pâté, caviar, and various cheeses (soft and hard).

Everyone is agreed that there will be no salad.

At some time during the day, some football may or may not be played.

If you would like to play, and eat, then come to Steampacket Park on Friday (and don’t forget Tuesday’s game on Tuesday). Everyone is welcome to come, and to chip in for the goodies, on the condition that you are or were (or lie and claim to be willing to be) a Steampacket at some stage, or you know or work with a Steampacket. Those with portable barbecuing facilities are more than welcome to offer their help.
